PERSONALITY QUESTIONS
What skills does your character bring to the situation?
Dick brings a lot of things to the table, ranging from leadership skills to actual physical skills. First, he's a highly skilled trained fighter; he was trained under the goddamn Batman, after all. While he's developed a specific way of fighting, he is still very adaptable to any given situation, whether it's a fight or figuring out where he's going to work. He knows how to use a variety of weapons, though he does specialize with nonlethal ones. He'd mostly prefer to use nonlethal weapons against people, though animals are a different story, especially if it involves hunting them for food and such. That's a completely different story.
He is also a master detective, being able to solve problems easily and quickly, like when he solved four cases of “America’s Most Wanted” in a single morning, as well as solving an unsolved homicide from 14 years ago. If someone got murdered for some reason? Chances are Dick is the man you want to go to to help solve the case.
The man has a way with people, and doesn't mind taking the lead when needed. He's also very good at following orders when that's needed, too. The biggest skill that Dick brings to the situation is his empathy; his ability to empathize with the people around him, the people who need him or who need help. His skill is being the guy you can count on for anything, and he takes that very seriously.
Why did you choose this specific character for 6I, and how do you picture them fitting into the game?
The reason why Dick is good for this game is very simple: Dick is adaptable and can fit in anywhere. He's a person who likes to help people and is always up for solving a mystery, whether it be why he's in a place such as this, or how he can help others in a place that makes no sense to what he's used to. And he's used to being in different places, just from all of the traveling he's done throughout his life. Dick would fit in well here, not because he's someone who's perfect for the setting, but because he's someone who fits in everywhere. He'll mold himself into whatever he needs to be, for whoever needs him to be anything. That's not to say he loses his identity, but that he just adapts well to whatever situation he's put into. Even if it's being transported to a completely different world. He'll make himself fit in, rather then fight against it.
How do you imagine your character will survive in 6I, and in what ways will they contribute to the settlement, if any?
Dick would survive rather well in this world. He has the skills and the abilities to hold his own in any fights that might come up, whether it's against people or creatures that he's never heard of before. And Dick? Dick is a helper. He'll contribute in whatever way is needed, even if it's doing something he's never done before. Sure, maybe he's never butchered a pig before, but show him how to do it one time and he can remember how to do it, and won't ever need to ask for help. Someone needs help chopping wood? Dick is your guy, because he's got the strength for it, and he genuinely wants to help. This is the guy who will go out of his way to help a crying child even in the middle of chasing down a bad guy through the streets of Gotham, New York City, or Bludhaven (he's been a masked vigilante in quite a bit of places).
There's also the side of Dick that has everything to do with wanting to make people happy. He's going to want to keep people's morale's up. Dick doesn't like to see people unhappy or down, just as much as he can get into his own brooding moods at times. He's a Bat after all, they tend to have their own brooding times, but Dick has always been the one who can get out of them a little bit easier then others. This makes him want to do the same for everyone else, and it's what he tries to do. So, besides having another helping hand around the settlement, you have the guy who will sing and do handstands and crack jokes, just to get someone to smile for the briefest of moments.
How will your character react to...Being separated, possibly permanently, from loved ones and their previous life, including loss of powers, if applicable?
So, Dick doesn't have any super powers that he would be losing, so let's scratch that one out. But being separated from loved ones and his previous life? Is going to hit Dick hard. It won't be easy for him, because Dick considers his family to be, well, his family. He really cares for his family and his friends, who he also considers family. You could almost say that Dick has no friends, because they're all loved ones, family, to him. And he has a lot of them, because the guy is pretty damn popular. Almost too much for his own good, really, but we can ignore that for now.
It'll be difficult, because he would be worried about them. Scared for them, even, considering the canon point he would be coming from, where the most important members of his family were fighting for something that one could almost call a birthright. Also, his father figure had just died, so he would be having such a difficult time with that already. Dick doesn't do well with losing people permanently. It would send him into a depression for awhile, one that he would struggle mightily with, but be able to hide extremely well from anyone who doesn't know him really well. Eventually he'd be able to deal with it, but it would always be in the back of his mind, wondering how everyone was doing, and if people were okay. There would be a lot of guilt as well, being away from people who might need him, as well as an entire city that needs Nightwing and now Batman.
Their environment being manipulated, possibly in strange or extraordinary ways, and possibly in ways which restrain them?
The environment around him being changed would definitely freak Dick out a little bit. He's used to a lot of things happening, though, such as the world changing for the different, or a city becoming a literal No Man's Land. So there's the two sides to Dick when it comes to that, because while it would freak him out, he'd also be able to take it in stride. He's a very complex person when it comes to changes in things, because he can handle them very well, just not like them very much.
It depends on how he's being restrained, of course. Because being restrained physically would be a problem. Dick is an acrobat, someone who's always on the move, and being forced into a smaller room situation, or somewhere where he can't move and do the things that he's used to doing (such as being able to fidget and go into handstands at the drop of a hat) would be a problem for him. Dick can't stand still for very long, and that doesn't mean just physically. He's always been the kind of person who has to keep moving in life, doing new things. It's not that he gets bored, it's just that he needs this freedom that comes from being able to do or be whatever he wants to do or be.
Being forced to do something that he doesn't want to do? Not something he's comfortable with, and he might fight it for a little bit before going along with it, but still on terms that he's comfortable with. Something like rationalizing what needs to be done for the greater good, versus what's good for himself, that sort of thing.
Being physically and/or mentally manipulated, such as having hallucinations or suddenly possessing special abilities they did not have before?
This would be very difficult for Dick, because he's the kind of person who has been manipulated in the past, either by extraordinary means, or by something that happened to him but was badly received. As said before, Dick is an acrobat, he's a man who is always on the move and suddenly being restrained? Not something he would take well. He would struggle greatly against that, physically if need be, and mentally as well. He does have a strong mental focus, and is able to resist quite a lot when it comes to mental manipulation, as well as being physically strong when it comes to physical. That's not to say he can't be restrained, because he is only a man, but it would be hard for him to deal with that.
As for suddenly having special abilities? Dick would think that was pretty damn cool. As a kid, and still as a young adult, he idolized people like Superman, and always wished that he had special powers that had a lot to do with, well, special type abilities that he'd never had before. Dick would find it to be some great adventure, and would have a blast with it. Once he learned how to use them, of course, without hurting people. Because if he got special abilities that he then hurt someone with, even by accident, the guilt would eat him up inside for awhile, and he would do whatever he could to make it right.

This place did not like people flying between buildings. Dick had discovered that one pretty quickly, but asking him not to fly? That was like asking him not to breathe! How could he sit still when there was a whole place to explore, even if it was more like a village then it was like a city? Even if he couldn't fly, if he didn't fly, he could never sit still. He could never stand still. He was always moving, and if he couldn't take an awkward silence, well, he'll just go into a handstand, then. Not that there weren't too many awkward silences in this place. Some of the people, a lot of them, weren't very talkative, but that seemed to depend on where they were and what they were doing. Dick had the unfortunate habit of saying hello and asking questions to people who did not want to be bothered.
But there were a lot of other people here, too. Some that he knew from back home, and others he didn’t, but he was enjoying this chance to get to know them. It reminded him a little of the circus, with its hodge-podge of people from all races and walks of life. But it created a sense of community, even if they were all spread out in these apartment places. Dick loved it. He missed home, he did, that would never change. Waking up here was not a pleasant thing, not at first, even when they told him what was going on. After all, he’d sort of been in the middle of making a life changing decision, and then, wham, he’s there almost drowning in a fountain.
He was taking it in stride, though. He'd spent an hour or so picturing the faces of everyone when they were frozen in time, what they were doing right at that second when it happened, when he first arrived here. Maybe being here was something of a reprieve from the problems of home. It could keep the darker thoughts at bay, sure, but between everything that had been happening back home, Dick really hadn't had the time to grieve. Not properly. Not like he should. Not like he wanted to. This place seemed like a crazy dream he was having, but then, other people could say that what he was going through back home was some crazy nightmare they were having.
Right now he wasn’t flying, though he was on the roof, walking the edges like a tight rope. He started whistling the tune to the Brady Bunch opening song, taking a step back and turning, doing a back flip off the building and grabbing onto the edge with his hands, before pulling himself back up. He didn’t have to be Batman, here. He didn’t have to be anything, here, really. He could do whatever he wanted to do. He couldn't be Nightwing, that didn't seem like it was going to work, here. He wasn’t sure how this place took to costumed vigilantes, if they already had a problem with doing acrobatic leaps and swinging through buildings, so maybe that one was completely out of the question. And maybe he couldn’t become a cop again, and maybe he wouldn’t want to become a cop again.
Maybe he could just be Dick Grayson. Annoying older brother. Son of Bruce Wayne. Friend to anyone he met off the street. Maybe, for once, he could just breathe.
Though, if he was being honest with himself, he’d go back to wearing a cape, just for a Brent’s chili dog. And Dick really hated wearing a cape.
